One of the most enjoyable afternoons I spent in the early 90s was driving around Rockybar with RM, stopping periodically to discuss the individual differences in the faces of his mostly Hereford cattle.
Amongst many other of his qualities, in the short years I knew him, I came to realise RM was much more than a motivated, thinking entrepreneur. He was a teacher and an artist; detail was extremely important to him, and design appreciation was interwoven throughout his character. And that’s the space where we connected, our observation, obsession, and love for the heartland of Australia, the bush. This lead to him in ‘92 volunteering to open my Toowoomba Exhibition, sponsored by QCL.
