Using portraits of people and animals captured in a moment of time, Phil’s paintings usually convey a message of life in the Australian outback.
This painting was the result of a collaboration with John Croaker, then CEO of Brahman Breeders’ Association. “While John initially proposed featuring the much more prolific grey genetics, these two ladies caught my attention and the scene that was exploding in my imagination would not go away…”
As it focuses on two exquisite, red brahman females, Malcolm McCosker first suggested ‘Queens of the Camp’ as the title. However, also home to hardy flocks of the little corella, the painting’s message reflects the massive contribution that quality Boss Indicus genetics have made to the cattle industry across the extremely challenging environment of northern Australia.
