WILD AND FREE

WILD AND FREE

The Australian wild bush horse, the Waler, paid tribute to by poet Banjo Patterson, has been slowly disappearing from the High Country and continental interior. Mounting pressure to eliminate them from National Parks and continued de-stocking by many pastoralists ensures progressive control of their numbers.

The painting captures the rhythm and wild energy of these proud descendants of Australian stock, bred for war purposes then turned loose after WW1 to run wild as the brumby mobs we see today.

As a tribute to this splendid horse and in recognition of the work by the Australian Stock Horse Society in maintaining the integrity of the breed, Phil released a Limited Edition of 950 copies of this powerful painting.
