Spring drifts into summer and a wide uninterrupted horizon stretches away into the distance, empty except for a mob of cattle being mustered up before the arrival of the monsoon rains.
Phil started thinking of painting this vast unbroken horizon of natural Mitchel grass plains when visited by an awestruck southern US cattleman, Scott Kleburg and his wife during their mission to divest King Ranch Australia’s holdings in Queensland and the NT.
Original: 400 x 300mm Oil on canvas.
